Atmavichara - Rudra

«I am» therefore let the enquiry begin!

The Self is the object to be known

The knower too is non-separate from the self

So who am I?

What am I?

All my knowledge fails to reveal what I am

My ignorance causes fear of the world and my mortality

I doubt my self-existence.

Is it or is it not?

The enquiry is in knowing what I am not

Am I the body or am I the mind?

Pain, pleasure, sorrow, tranquillity

All of which arises in me

I witness them all standing apart from them!

Not the body nor the breath

Not the ego nor the mind

In the waking I perceive the world

In the dream I create my world

In deep sleep, being blissfully ignorant

I destroy them all

Panchakoshaatiitah san avasthaa trayasaakshi

Saccidaananda svaroopah san yastishthati sa aatmaa»

Not part of the universe but it in me

In me it is yet I am not in it

Creation, sustenance and dissolution

I cause them all!!!

The one supreme is the I, like the eye of the eye

Existent in every thought, in every word and in every deed

Not an isolated experience but the only experience

I exist, I am aware, I am, I am-

Neither the body nor the breath!

Neither the ego nor the mind

All of which arises in me

I witness them all standing apart from them!

«Yo soy», por lo tanto, ¡que comience la indagación!

El Sí mismo es el objeto a ser conocido

El conocedor tampoco está separado del yo.

¿Entonces, quién soy yo?

¿Qué soy yo?

Todo mi conocimiento no logra revelar lo que soy

Mi ignorancia provoca miedo al mundo y mi mortalidad

Dudo de mi propia existencia.

¿Lo es o no lo es?

La indagación está en saber lo que no soy

¿Soy el cuerpo o soy la mente?

Dolor, placer, tristeza, tranquilidad

Todo lo cual surge en mí

¡Los veo a todos parados aparte de ellos!

Ni el cuerpo ni la respiración.

Ni el ego ni la mente.

Al despertar percibo el mundo

En el sueño creo mi mundo

En un sueño profundo, siendo felizmente ignorante

los destruyo a todos

No es parte del universo pero está en mí

En mí está, pero yo no estoy en él

Creación, sustento y disolución

¡¡¡Yo los provoco a todos!!!

El único supremo es el yo, como el ojo del ojo

Existente en cada pensamiento, en cada palabra y en cada acción

No es una experiencia aislada sino la única experiencia

existo, soy consciente, soy, soy-

¡Ni el cuerpo ni la respiración!

Ni el ego ni la mente

Todo lo cual surge en mí

¡Los veo a todos parados aparte de ellos!
