There’s a Hedgehog on my fence

He treats me with indifference

And I in turn ignore him

Even though he’s close to me

I was told when I was small

That China wasn’t far at all

But now I can’t remember

Why I’ve never been to see

Long ago when I was smaller

I remember growing taller

If I could be kind and good

The world would smile on me

Tell me what you want to know

Ask me and I’ll try to show you

Everywhere there is to go

And everything to see

There’s a Sparrow on my roof

Who manages to stay aloof

And go about his daily business

Much the same as me

me trata con indiferencia

Y yo a su vez lo ignoro

A pesar de que está cerca de mí

Me dijeron cuando era pequeño

Que China no estaba nada lejos

Pero ahora no puedo recordar

Por qué nunca he ido a ver

Hace mucho tiempo cuando era más pequeño

Recuerdo crecer más alto

Si pudiera ser amable y bueno

El mundo me sonreiría

Dime lo que quieres saber

Pregúntame e intentaré mostrarte

En todas partes hay que ir

Y todo para ver

Hay un gorrión en mi techo

Quién logra mantenerse al margen

Y ocuparse de sus asuntos diarios
