I was in a hotel room

I was so far away from home

It seemed like the walls were closing in on me

My soul felt like it’d turned to stone

There were two books upon the night stand

I didn’t know which one to read

And I wasn’t sure what I might find in them

Or if it would be anything I need

But I sat there in that small room

And as the night became the day

I read about Buddha and I read about Christ

And the words that they did say

And I saw myself before me

Like a ship lost at sea

And I guess I was content to just let it pass

When I heard your voice in me

Down on my knees

I went walking into a strange city

In the darkest hours of the night

I went looking for a sign from you

I was hoping to see the light

When a man came from the shadows

And he asked me if I’d heard

The good news about Jesus Christ

And how he was the word

Then he asked me to say a prayer with him

So that Christ I would receive

I told him I had further to walk

Before I could believe

He said he saw me standing before him

Like a ship lost at sea

And I saw myself reflected in his eyes

When I felt your breath on me

Down on my knees

I was sitting by the ocean

I was up against a dune

I was listening to the tide come in

I was looking up at the moon

And I never felt as alone in my life

As I did just sitting there

My whole life flashed before me

And the pictures they seemed so bare

And I was overcome with desperation

And a hunger I couldn’t feed

Time stood still and was seething

And I could feel my existence bleed

And I saw myself before me

Like a ship lost at sea

And I was looking for a beacon

When I felt your light touch me

Down on my knees

estaba tan lejos de casa

Parecía que las paredes se estaban cerrando sobre mí

Mi alma se sentía como si se hubiera convertido en piedra

Había dos libros sobre la mesita de noche.

no sabia cual leer

Y no estaba seguro de lo que podría encontrar en ellos

O si sería algo que necesito

Pero me senté allí en esa pequeña habitación

Y como la noche se convirtió en el día

Leí sobre Buda y leí sobre Cristo

Y las palabras que dijeron

Y me vi ante mi

Como un barco perdido en el mar

Y supongo que estaba contento con dejarlo pasar

Cuando escuché tu voz en mí

Arrodillado

Fui caminando a una ciudad extraña

En las horas más oscuras de la noche

fui a buscar una señal tuya

esperaba ver la luz

Cuando un hombre salió de las sombras

Y me preguntó si había oído

Las buenas noticias acerca de Jesucristo

Y como era la palabra

Luego me pidió que hiciera una oración con él.

Para que Cristo yo recibiera

le dije que tenia que caminar mas

Antes de que pudiera creer

Dijo que me vio parado frente a él.

Como un barco perdido en el mar

Y me vi reflejado en sus ojos

Cuando sentí tu aliento sobre mí

Arrodillado

estaba sentado junto al mar

estaba contra una duna

Estaba escuchando la marea subir

estaba mirando hacia la luna

Y nunca me sentí tan solo en mi vida

Como lo hice sentado allí

Toda mi vida pasó ante mí

Y las fotos parecían tan desnudas

Y me venció la desesperación

Y un hambre que no pude alimentar

El tiempo se detuvo y estaba hirviendo

Y pude sentir mi existencia sangrar

Y me vi ante mi

Como un barco perdido en el mar

Y yo estaba buscando un faro

Cuando sentí tu luz tocarme
