In the twilight hours

Deep within the hidden grasses

Ferns and branches

Of thick and ancient forest

I lay myself to rest

Each night

Between two trees I carve a circle

Scraping and pulling away the dried leaves

Branches, roots, and grasses

Revealing the damp, dark earth

I plant myself there

In this womb

In this tomb

I surrender my flesh to

Move away from my bones

And slither like veins

From my heart

Crawling like vines

To ground myself once again

With the rising of the sun’s rays

Reaching through the thick wooded hideaway

All my tears mix with dew and I’m renewed

I am a vortex

I open my eyes to you

As time slows down

We dive through layers together

Levels of matter invisible to eyes of others

I see who you are

Underneath the lies you tell yourself

I am an evergreen

I am never ending

I move towards you

I give to you

And you would take

Until there’s nothing left to give

I am destruction

I am the fires and earthquakes

Deep within the belly of this Earth

Flaming through my eyes

I take back what’s mine

As I leave you to wither and carbonize
