Thunder Trails - Trace Mountains

Thunder trails under the mountain range

City shape, unforgotten easy way

Where I stay, where I hold myself today

And it is late

And I can’t think of anything to say

Except that I ought to get away

Or to hold my own breath

To bare my teeth to a landscape which destroys all that it creates

And let it take me, let it blow

Let it strike me

Let the world re-become me

Trace the mountains over sky

And sing to the big nothing

Trace the sun and watch it die

And bring home something to eat in the morning

There is only one thing that I can hold

And it is a garden of love and trust

But I’m always forgetting

Pouring from these hands I am reluctantly opening

Soil is the song bleeding from everything and from my knee

I don’t know where I can go without close behind following

Are all of these lies and falsehoods I’ve learned in my life?

I’m always washing them off
