Exception to Every Rule -

The future fell thru my cargo pocket

Started singing a song, unawares of the topic

Forsook who I was & where i’ve been

Or did I only play the part when I was stuck in a scene?

In which I was convicted of a very quiet crime

& I would not defend myself, nor could they testify

So we ventured out to find a voice, & stumbled onto rhymes

Though i tend to go towards the tune;

it gets me every time!

Tho i tend to.,.

Put the music to the paper & paint it with a brush

Stick it to the fridge, now there’s nuthin but a hush

So i glue it to a poem but the colors couldn’t hear it

Guess i mean that’s just between my music and the lyrics

So like a rhythm gone bad and whistled by the weather

Tried to fly like a bird but I forgot the feathers

All my my pride was cast away

Your only ride is your own delay

An exception to every rule today

As we opened up a door

We followed tracks that lost the train

& sailed a boat that stayed onshore

When I heard the thunder call my name

& felt lightning on the floor

To be seen again

But not until the moon’s no more

Not until we.,.

With guitar string thread the piano sewn

A song for my skull and socks for my bones

Could we spark the mind without making it blown?

When names are the same as sticks and stones

If we had only known to avoid disaster;

Holy Ghost would reverse the rapture

Book be closed on the final chapter

And they all live happy ever after

Or would you rather have monsters in your closet instead?

And a man called Lucanus hiding under your bed

On a book with the only rule i’ve never read

& did you know what it said?

El futuro cayó a través de mi bolsillo de carga

Comenzó a cantar una canción, sin darse cuenta del tema.

Abandoné quién era y dónde he estado

¿O solo interpreté el papel cuando estaba atrapado en una escena?

En el que fui condenado por un crimen muy silencioso

& yo no me defendería, ni ellos podrían testificar

Así que nos aventuramos a encontrar una voz y nos topamos con rimas

Aunque tiendo a ir hacia la melodía;

¡Me atrapa cada vez!

Pon la música en el papel y píntalo con un pincel

Pégalo en la nevera, ahora no hay nada más que un silencio

Así que lo pegué a un poema pero los colores no podían oírlo

Supongo que quiero decir que eso es solo entre mi música y la letra.

Entonces, como un ritmo que se estropeó y silbó por el clima

Intenté volar como un pájaro pero olvidé las plumas

Todo mi orgullo fue desechado

Tu único viaje es tu propio retraso

Una excepción a todas las reglas hoy

Cuando abrimos una puerta

Seguimos las vías que perdieron el tren

y navegó un barco que se quedó en tierra

Cuando escuché el trueno decir mi nombre

& sentí un relámpago en el suelo

Para ser visto de nuevo

Pero no hasta que la luna ya no esté

No hasta que nosotros.,.

Con hilo de cuerda de guitarra el piano cosido

Una canción para mi cráneo y calcetines para mis huesos

¿Podemos despertar la mente sin hacerla explotar?

Cuando los nombres son lo mismo que palos y piedras

Si tan solo hubiéramos sabido evitar el desastre;

Espíritu Santo revertiría el rapto

El libro se cerrará en el capítulo final

Y todos viven felices para siempre

¿O preferirías tener monstruos en tu armario?

Y un hombre llamado Lucano escondido debajo de tu cama

En un libro con la única regla que nunca he leído

¿Y sabías lo que decía?
