Gone Fishin'

When I was young I messed around instead of being studious

While others worked and planned my course was really rather dubious

But when it came to pleasures I was altogether serious

When someone tried to pin me down I’d say:

I’m gone fishin', it ain’t no crime, ain’t no mistake

I’m gone fishin' to the far side of the lake

I’m gone fishin', untill I see the setting sun,

I’m gone fishin', you won’t see me till I’m done

Now I’m getting older, got my kids, I’ve got my wife

She’s filled with good ideas about how I should run my life

and sometimes these ideas they make me worry, give me strife

That’s when I grab my pole and tell her hon'

I’m gone fishin' to the far side of the lake

I’m gone fishin', untill I see the setting sun,

I’m gone fishin', you won’t see me till I’m done

And someday when I’m older call me coot or call me fart

With not a pot to piss in and a black and failing heart

you won’t find me at no country club, or taking in fine art

But from that nursing home i’ll surely stray…

Now fishin’s not a verb, not an adjective or noun

Fishing is a state of mind where worries you can drown

Fishing doesn’t take much planning and you don’t have to wait

Give your brain a fishing break, come on and take the bait

I’m gone fishin', untill I see the setting sun,

I’m gone fishin', you won’t see me till I’m done

Me he ido a pescar'

Cuando era joven me entretenía en lugar de ser estudioso

Mientras que otros trabajaron y planificaron, mi curso fue bastante dudoso.

Pero cuando se trataba de placeres, era completamente serio.

Cuando alguien intentaba inmovilizarme, decía:

Me he ido a pescar, no es un crimen, no es un error

Me he ido a pescar al otro lado del lago

Me voy a pescar, hasta que vea la puesta de sol,

Me he ido a pescar, no me verás hasta que termine

Ahora me estoy haciendo mayor, tengo a mis hijos, tengo a mi esposa

Está llena de buenas ideas sobre cómo debo llevar mi vida.

y a veces estas ideas me preocupan, me dan contienda

Ahí es cuando agarro mi poste y le digo cariño

Me he ido a pescar, no es un crimen, no es un error

Me he ido a pescar al otro lado del lago

Me voy a pescar, hasta que vea la puesta de sol,

Me he ido a pescar, no me verás hasta que termine

Y algún día, cuando sea mayor, llámame tonto o llámame pedo

Sin una olla para orinar y un corazón negro y desfalleciente

no me encontrarás en ningún club de campo, o estudiando bellas artes

Pero de ese hogar de ancianos seguramente me desviaré...

Me iré a pescar, no es un crimen, no es un error

Me he ido a pescar al otro lado del lago

Me voy a pescar, hasta que vea la puesta de sol,

Me he ido a pescar, no me verás hasta que termine

Ahora pescar no es un verbo, ni un adjetivo ni un sustantivo

La pesca es un estado de ánimo en el que las preocupaciones se pueden ahogar

La pesca no requiere mucha planificación y no tienes que esperar

Dale a tu cerebro un descanso para pescar, vamos y muerde el anzuelo

Nos fuimos a pescar, no es un crimen, no es un error

Me he ido a pescar al otro lado del lago

Me voy a pescar, hasta que vea la puesta de sol,

Me he ido a pescar, no me verás hasta que termine
