Atlas: Four - Sleeping At Last

I’m turning out the lights

To remember how to see

Until a renaissance takes place

And resuscitates the color of paint and divinity

As if God hid the building blocks

Of every beautiful thing

In this game of hide and seek

I can’t help but think that ordinary has swallowed the key

Bodies fashioned out of dirt and dust

For a moment we get to be glorious

Ice sculptures adorned in light

Sand castles built tall in between the tides

Maybe I’m hiding behind metaphor

Maybe my heart needs to break to be sure

One day I’ll wear it all on my sleeve

The insignificant with the sacred unique

But I’ve fallen in love with a ghost

And I lost my balance when I needed it most

And this blurry photograph is proof

Of what I’m not sure but it feels like truth

I’m stuck swimming in shadows down here

It’s been forever since I came up for air

Flashlight in hand determined to find

Authenticity only poetry could even begin to try to describe

Bodies fashioned out of dirt and dust

What if we already are

Who we’ve been dying to become

In certain light I can plainly see

A reflection of magnificence

Hidden in you

Maybe even in me

Estoy apagando las luces

Para recordar cómo ver

Hasta que se produzca un renacimiento

Y resucita el color de la pintura y la divinidad

Como si Dios escondiera los bloques de construcción

De todo lo bello

En este juego de las escondidas

No puedo evitar pensar que lo ordinario se ha tragado la llave.

Cuerpos hechos de tierra y polvo

Por un momento llegamos a ser gloriosos

Esculturas de hielo adornadas con luz

Castillos de arena construidos entre las mareas

Tal vez me estoy escondiendo detrás de la metáfora

Tal vez mi corazón necesita romperse para estar seguro

Un día lo usaré todo en mi manga

Lo insignificante con lo sagrado único

Pero me he enamorado de un fantasma

Y perdí mi equilibrio cuando más lo necesitaba

Y esta fotografía borrosa es prueba

De lo que no estoy seguro, pero se siente como la verdad

Estoy atrapado nadando en las sombras aquí abajo

Ha pasado una eternidad desde que subí a tomar aire

Linterna en mano decidida a encontrar

Autenticidad que solo la poesía podría incluso comenzar a intentar describir

¿Y si ya lo somos?

En quién nos moríamos por convertirnos

En cierta luz puedo ver claramente

Un reflejo de magnificencia

Escondido en ti

Tal vez incluso en mí
