Tempted and tried, we’re oft made to wonder

Why it should be thus all the day long;

While there are others living about us

Never molested, though in the wrong

Farther along we’ll know more about it

Farther along we’ll understand why;

We’ll understand it all by and by

Sometimes I wonder why I must suffer

Go in the rain, the cold, and the snow

When there are many living in comfort

Giving no heed to all I can do

Tempted and tried, how often we question

Why we must suffer year after year

Being accused by those of our loved ones

E’en though we’ve walked in God’s holy fear

When death has come and taken our loved ones

Leaving our home so lone and so drear

Then do we wonder why others prosper

Living so wicked year after year

'Faithful till death' said our loving Master;

Short is our time to labor and wait;

Then will our toiling seem to be nothing

When we shall pass that beautiful gate

Soon we will see our dear, loving Master

Hear the last trumpet sound through the sky;

Then we will meet those gone on before us

Then we shall know and understand why

Tentados y probados, a menudo nos hacen preguntarnos

Por qué debe ser así todo el día;

Mientras hay otros viviendo alrededor de nosotros

Nunca molestado, aunque en el mal

Más adelante sabremos más al respecto.

Más adelante entenderemos por qué;

Ánimo, hermano mío, vive bajo el sol

Lo entenderemos todo poco a poco

A veces me pregunto por qué debo sufrir

Ir bajo la lluvia, el frío y la nieve

Cuando hay muchos viviendo en la comodidad

Sin prestar atención a todo lo que puedo hacer

Tentado y probado, con qué frecuencia cuestionamos

Por qué debemos sufrir año tras año

Ser acusado por los de nuestros seres queridos

Aunque hemos caminado en el santo temor de Dios

Cuando la muerte ha llegado y se ha llevado a nuestros seres queridos

Dejando nuestra casa tan sola y tan triste

Entonces, ¿nos preguntamos por qué otros prosperan?

Viviendo tan mal año tras año

'Fiel hasta la muerte' dijo nuestro amado Maestro;

Breve es nuestro tiempo para trabajar y esperar;

Entonces nuestro trabajo parecerá ser nada

Cuando pasemos esa hermosa puerta

Pronto veremos a nuestro querido y amoroso Maestro

Escucha el sonido de la última trompeta a través del cielo;

Entonces nos encontraremos con los que nos han precedido

Entonces sabremos y entenderemos por qué
