The angel Gabriel from Heaven came,

His wings as drifted snow, his eyes as flame;

«All hail,"said he, «Thou lowly maiden Mary,

Most hightly favored lady,"Gloria!

«For know a blessed Mother thou shalt be,

All generations laud and honor thee,

Thy Son shall be Emmanuel, by seers foretold,

Then gentle Mary meekly bowed her head,

«To me be as it pleaseth God,"she said,

«My sould shall laud and magnify his holy Name.»

Of her, Emmanuel, the Christ, was born

In Bethlehem, all on a Christmas morn,

And Christian folk throughout the world will ever say:

«Most hightly favored lady,"Gloria!

Vino el ángel Gabriel del cielo,

Sus alas como nieve a la deriva, sus ojos como llamas;

«Salve», dijo él, «tú, humilde doncella María,

Señora muy favorecida, "¡Gloria!

«Porque sé Madre bendita que serás,

Todas las generaciones te alaban y te honran,

Tu Hijo será Emmanuel, predicho por los videntes,

Entonces la dulce María inclinó dócilmente la cabeza,

«Hágase conmigo como Dios quiere», dijo,

«Mi alma alabará y engrandecerá su santo Nombre».

De ella nació Emmanuel, el Cristo

En Belén, todo en una mañana de Navidad,

Y la gente cristiana de todo el mundo siempre dirá:

«Señora muy favorecida, "¡Gloria!
