The Bible is our weapon the amunition’s inside I’m told

Sixteen years ago today I gave birth to a little boy

And of all the worries I’ve had for him ev’ry minute has been a joy

And when they laid him in my arms on that twenty-seventh day of May

I looked down at his tiny little face and you should have heard me pray

Oh dear God you’ve blessed me with more than I deserve

And someday God when he grows up it’s you I pray he’ll serve

Now all his friends have gathered around to help him celebrate

He just blew out the candles and has begin to cut the cake

They’re laughin' and they’re talkin' of what they’re gonna do and be some day

And when they get a little older they’re gonna go fight for their country

But I couldn’t help but overhear what my son had to say

And there’s not one doubt in my mind that my prayer paid off today

La Biblia es nuestra arma, la munición está dentro, me han dicho.

Vamos a luchar del lado de Jesús, él no ha perdido un alma.

Unámonos a su banda de soldados porque no viven a espada

Estaremos luchando por nuestros compatriotas pero estaremos trabajando para el Señor

Hoy hace dieciséis años di a luz a un niño

Y de todas las preocupaciones que he tenido por él, cada minuto ha sido una alegría.

Y cuando lo pusieron en mis brazos el veintisiete de mayo

Miré su carita diminuta y deberías haberme oído rezar

Oh querido Dios, me has bendecido con más de lo que merezco

Y algún día Dios, cuando crezca, eres tú, rezo para que sirva

Ahora todos sus amigos se han reunido para ayudarlo a celebrar.

Acaba de apagar las velas y ha comenzado a cortar el pastel.

Se ríen y hablan de lo que harán y serán algún día.

Y cuando crezcan un poco, irán a luchar por su país.

Pero no pude evitar escuchar lo que mi hijo tenía que decir.

Y no hay ninguna duda en mi mente de que mi oración valió la pena hoy
