How did we get here?

What does it mean?

Everyone’s hiding

And no one can breathe

While they search for the person

Whose head hands in shame

Who opened the test tube

That holds all the blame

But the shame of it all

Is that he doesn’t exist, so tell me

Why does it feel like

There is something we’ve missed

We’re caught in a crossfire

They claim we’ve moved forward

By using their brains

But do people of color

Just get used and abused?

So that people in power

Are still able to choose

And why does money and violence

Create hunger and greed?

And this human condition

Require so much need

Tell me, where are we going?

Have we really learned nothing?

Thrown out all of the gifts

That we’ve found

Can we change, find the source?

Rediscover all we’ve lost

Pull back fast lest we sink

Arrest this fall into the brink
