When rose the eastern star, the birds came from a-far,

in that full might of glory.

With one melodious voice they sweetly did rejoice

and sang the wonderous story,

sang, praising God on high, enthroned above the sky,

and his fair mother Mary.

The eagle left his lair, came winging through the air,

his message loud arising.

And to his jouyous cry the sparrow made reply,

his answer sweetly voicing.

«Overcome are death and strife, this night is born new life»,

the robin sang rejoicing.

Cuando se elevó la estrella del este, los pájaros vinieron de lejos,

en todo el poder de la gloria.

Con una voz melodiosa se regocijaron dulcemente

y cantó la maravillosa historia,

cantó, alabando a Dios en lo alto, entronizado sobre el cielo,

y su bella madre María.

El águila salió de su guarida, vino volando por el aire,

su mensaje surge en voz alta.

Y a su grito de alegría el gorrión respondió:

su respuesta dulcemente expresada.

«Vencidas son la muerte y la lucha, esta noche nace nueva vida»,

el petirrojo cantó regocijado.
