The Light -

The people walking in darkness

Have seen a great light;

On those living in the shadow

A light has dawned.

You’ve enlarged the nation

Increased their joy;

They rejoice before you

As people rejoice at the harvest

For you have shattered the yoke that burdens them,

The rod of their oppressor.

Because to us a child is born

A son is given to us.

And the government will be on his shoulders.

And he will be called

Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God

Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace

There will be no end

He’ll reign over his kingdom

Upholding it with justice and righteousness

From that time on and forever.

La gente que camina en la oscuridad

han visto una gran luz;

Sobre los que viven en la sombra

Ha amanecido una luz.

Has agrandado la nación

aumentó su alegría;

Se regocijan ante ti

Como la gente se regocija en la cosecha

porque has quebrantado el yugo que los agobia,

La vara de su opresor.

Porque a nosotros nos nace un niño

Se nos da un hijo.

Y el gobierno estará sobre sus hombros.

Y se llamará

Maravilloso Consejero, Dios Fuerte

Padre Eterno, Príncipe de Paz.

Del aumento de su gobierno y de la paz

No habrá final

Él reinará sobre su reino

Sosteniéndolo con justicia y rectitud

A partir de ese momento y para siempre.
