How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,

Is laid for your faith in His excellent Word!

What more can He say than to you He hath said,

To you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

«Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,

For I am thy God and will still give thee aid;

I’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand

Upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

«When through the deep waters I call thee to go,

The rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;

For I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,

And sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

«When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,

My grace, all sufficient, shall be thy supply;

The flame shall not hurt thee;

I only design

Thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.

«The soul that on Jesus still leans for repose,

I will not, I will not desert to it’s foes;

That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,

I’ll never, no never, no never forsake.»

«Even down to old age all my people shall prove

My sovereign, eternal, unchangeable love;

And when hoary hairs shall their temples adorn,

Like lambs they shall still in my bosom be borne.»

In every condition, in sickness, in health;

In poverty’s vale, or abounding in wealth;

At home and abroad, on the land, on the sea,

As thy days may demand, shall thy strength every be.

¡Está puesto por vuestra fe en Su excelente Palabra!

¿Qué más puede decir Él que a vosotros os ha dicho:

¿A vosotros que por refugio en Jesús habéis huido?

«No temas, yo estoy contigo, no desmayes,

Porque yo soy tu Dios y todavía te ayudaré;

Te fortaleceré y te ayudaré, y haré que estés de pie

Sostenido por mi mano justa y omnipotente.

«Cuando a través de las aguas profundas te llamo a ir,

Los ríos de la aflicción no te inundarán;

Porque yo estaré contigo, para bendecir tus aflicciones,

Y santifica a ti tu más profunda angustia.

«Cuando a través de pruebas de fuego tus caminos sean tendidos,

Mi gracia, toda suficiente, será tu suministro;

La llama no te hará daño;

Yo solo diseño

Tu escoria para consumir, y tu oro para refinar.

«El alma que en Jesús todavía se apoya para el reposo,

No lo haré, no abandonaré a sus enemigos;

Esa alma, aunque todo el infierno se esfuerce por sacudirla,

Nunca, no, nunca, no, nunca abandonaré.»

«Hasta la vejez todo mi pueblo demostrará

Mi amor soberano, eterno, inmutable;

Y cuando las canas adornarán sus sienes,

Como corderos nacerán todavía en mi seno.»

En toda condición, en la enfermedad, en la salud;

en el valle de la pobreza, o abundante en riqueza;

En casa y en el extranjero, en la tierra, en el mar,

Según lo exijan tus días, será tu fuerza cada uno.
