Evening Prayers -

Alone I spend another night

I close my book, I dim the light

I wait for sleep to numb my lonely ache

No rest I find inside my bed

No rest but yearning thoughts instead

And when I sleep my heart is still awake

This emptiness I feel within

Will cloud my head and burn my skin

My mind has thoughts no minister could take

Dreams fill me up with wild desires

The constant hope that never tires

Longing dances through my evening prayers

She ties my wrists and ankles to the bed

Her fingertips start a hunger that can only be filled

Never numbed

Longing robs you of your peace

A discontent that never sleeps

All walls of satisfaction she will break

Perhaps she breaks what she cannot mend

But she stays close and loyal as a friend

And when I sleep my heart is still awake

Now I have faith in God above

I have faith that I’ll find my love

And I hope I’m right, my whole heart is at stake

But faith and hope are hard to keep

And all this time I’m losing sleep

Cierro mi libro, bajo la luz

Espero que el sueño adormezca mi dolor solitario

No encuentro descanso dentro de mi cama

No hay descanso sino pensamientos anhelantes en su lugar

nublará mi cabeza y quemará mi piel

Mi mente tiene pensamientos que ningún ministro podría tomar

Los sueños me llenan de deseos salvajes

La esperanza constante que nunca se cansa

Me ata las muñecas y los tobillos a la cama

Las yemas de sus dedos provocan un hambre que solo se puede saciar

El anhelo te roba tu paz

Un descontento que nunca duerme

Todos los muros de satisfacción que ella romperá

Tal vez ella rompe lo que no puede reparar

Pero ella se mantiene cercana y leal como una amiga.

Ahora tengo fe en el Dios de arriba

tengo fe en que encontrare mi amor

Y espero estar en lo cierto, todo mi corazón está en juego

Pero la fe y la esperanza son difíciles de mantener
