There’s a place on the river where it forms pools and turns

Where ferns shade the moss and pines shade the ferns

And you can tell by the smell of the cool damp air

That you don’t really have any business there

You can see it from your window as the train goes by

Back in the shadows under the midday sky

And if the wind don’t blow and the river’s not too high

The chances are good you’ll see a dragonfly
