When I was a little one I would stay by your side

Walking in your shadow close behind

And you would tell me all about the mystery

You said you’d always be shining in that sky

Mother moon do you see the sky is changing

Getting brighter all the time

And I wish that we could stay this way

But I’m bound for the sunrise

And I’ve been changing faster than I can see

I don’t even know me sometimes

And it’s not easy growing out of small things

Spreading those big wings and taking flight

And what I was is behind me

And what I will be is moving on

So that leaves a little space to look at the moon’s face

Before the day breaks and she is gone
