I have returned to the God of my childhood,

to the same simple faith as a child I once knew.

Like a prodigal son I’ve longed for my loved ones.

For the comforts of home and the God I outgrew.

I have returned to the God of my childhood,

Bethlehem’s Babe,

the prophet’s Messiah.

He’s Jesus to me,

eternal Deity!

the most God-like man a child could know.

Oh I just heard a shout from the angels in glory,

praising the Lord a child has come home.

on my knees I did fall

where the wall now stands.

This lesson I’ve learned as I’ve worked my way homeward,

the Saviour of all is the comfort to man.

The shepherd of Moses,

who called Him the great I am.

He’s Jesus to me,

He vuelto al Dios de mi infancia,

a la misma fe sencilla que un niño que una vez conocí.

Como un hijo pródigo he anhelado a mis seres queridos.

Por las comodidades del hogar y el Dios que superé.

He vuelto al Dios de mi infancia,

el bebé de Belén,

el Mesías del profeta.

Él es Jesús para mí,

¡Deidad eterna!

He vuelto al Dios de mi padre,

el hombre más parecido a Dios que un niño podría conocer.

Esta lección la aprendí mientras me abría camino hacia casa,

el Salvador de todos es el consuelo del hombre.

El pastor de Moisés,

quien lo llamó el gran yo soy.
