So you started out with big dreams

All the things you’d like to do

Turns out one thousand people want it

Just as much as you

Well life’s not about conforming

Ending up like all the rest

No now lose the self indulgence

Not the brightest or the best

When you see who you want to be

But they’re just out of reach

It seems that self assurance

Is the one thing they don’t teach

It’ll all be better next year

When you find some place to go

As if still after twenty years

It don’t matter what you know

Message after message

Till I’m not sure what they meant

Please heed my statement of intent

Sit down, relax, calm down

Just try and be yourself

All this when social media

Becomes your living hell

It seems just like a front

It’s there to catch you when you fall

Cause despite all these connections

We’re the loneliest of all

When you see who you want to be

But they’re just out of reach

It seems that self assurance

No idea which way to go

What’s the point in writing something

If you don’t have much to say

Lord knows it took a long time

Now I think I’ve found my way
