The Beautiful Silence - And Also the Trees

I came upon a house

In a place I’d never been before

All painted white and open doors

With the sunlight dancing on the floor

I saw the wind in the spring trees

Smelt the poplar and the sun’s heat

And the meadows lie sleeping.

I found myself in a pale room

With a bolted door

And a beautiful silence

I saw a woman lying there

With the sunlight entwined in her auburn hair

And through the window floated many things

Photographs and letters and her wedding ring

And a child voice speaking.

I came upon a house

Somewhere I’d never been before

And in this lace of light and dark

I feel my heart sing joyously inside me.

En un lugar en el que nunca había estado antes

Todo pintado de blanco y puertas abiertas.

Con la luz del sol bailando en el suelo

Vi el viento en los árboles de primavera

Oler el álamo y el calor del sol

Y los prados yacen durmiendo.

Me encontré en una habitación pálida

Con una puerta atrancada

Y un hermoso silencio

Vi a una mujer acostada allí

Con la luz del sol entrelazada en su cabello castaño

Y por la ventana flotaban muchas cosas

Fotografías y cartas y su anillo de bodas.

Y una voz de niño hablando.

Y en este encaje de luz y oscuridad

Siento mi corazón cantar alegremente dentro de mí.
