Chapter 13 - Above The Golden State

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels

But have not love

I am only a resounding gong or clanging cymbal

And if I have the gift of prophesy

And can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge

And if I have a faith that can move the mountains

But have not love

I am nothing

If I give all I possess to the poor

And surrender my body to the flames

But have not love

I gain nothing

Love is patient

Love is kind

It does not envy

Does not boast

It is not proud

It is not rude

It is not self-seeking

It is not easily angered

It keeps no record of wrongs

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth

It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres

Love never fails

But where there are prophecies they will cease

Where there are tongues they will be stilled

Where there is knowledge it will pass away

For we know in part and we prophesy in part

But when perfection comes the imperfect disappears

When I was a child I talked like a child

I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child

When I became a man I put my childish ways behind me

Now we see but a poor reflection as in a mirror

Then we shall see face to face

Now I know in part, then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known

And now these three remain

Faith, hope, and love

But the greatest of these is love

Si hablo en lenguas de hombres y de ángeles

pero no tengo amor

Soy sólo un gong que resuena o un címbalo que retiñe

Y si tengo el don de profecia

Y puede sondear todos los misterios y todo el conocimiento

Y si tengo una fe que puede mover montañas

pero no tengo amor

No soy nada

Si doy todo lo que poseo a los pobres

Y entregar mi cuerpo a las llamas

pero no tengo amor

no gano nada

El amor es paciente

El amor es amable

no tiene envidia

no se jacta

no es orgullo

no es grosero

No es egoísta

No se enfada fácilmente

No lleva registro de errores

El amor no se deleita en el mal sino que se regocija con la verdad

Siempre protege, siempre confía, siempre espera, siempre persevera

El amor nunca falla

Pero donde hay profecías cesarán

Donde haya lenguas, se callarán

Donde hay conocimiento, pasará

Porque en parte conocemos y en parte profetizamos

Pero cuando llega la perfección, lo imperfecto desaparece.

Cuando era niño hablaba como un niño

Pensé como un niño, razoné como un niño

Cuando me convertí en hombre, dejé atrás mis costumbres infantiles.

Ahora vemos sólo un pobre reflejo como en un espejo

Entonces nos veremos cara a cara

Ahora sé en parte, entonces conoceré plenamente, así como soy plenamente conocido

Y ahora quedan estos tres

Fe Esperanza y Amor

Pero el mayor de ellos es el amor

El mayor de ellos es el amor.
